Secondary Infertility: It is the situation where there is difficulty in conceiving again after a first pregnancy.

Ayurvedic infertility treatment: Causes

Infertility affects both men and women due to various biological and lifestyle factors. Ayurveda identifies imbalances in doshas (Vata, Kapha, Pitta), also toxin accumulation (Ama), which leads to infertility due to reproductive tissues (Shakru Dhatu and Artava Dhatu), which act as a key element. Infertility can be due to both male and female reasons. A few of the causes are listed below:

Male Infertility Causes

  • Low Sperm Count and Poor sperm health: Weak shukra Dhatu (reproductive tissues), Vata Imbalance (dryness), or Pitta Excess (inflammation).
  • Sperm mobility Issues: when toxin or Ama accumulates. It creates a blockage in the reproductive channels. Blocked Shukra Vaha Srotas (sperm carrying channels) may cause problems such as retrograde ejaculation, tubule deformities.
  • Hormonal imbalance: Weak Rasa Dhatu (nutritional balance) affecting the testosterone may lead to infertility.
  • Other factors: Situations like Kapha Imbalances, including undescended testicles, tumors, and infections, may also be the reason for infertility issues in Males.

Female Infertility Causes

  • Irregular menstrual cycles and ovarian-related problems: A Female faces missed periods, heavy bleeding due to the kapha-Vata Imbalance. Menstrual cycle imbalance can lead to issues such as PCOS, PCOD, and Endometriosis.
  • Uterine and tubal blockages: This situation prevents embryo implantation due to Ama accumulation.
  • Hormonal and other causes: Arthava Dhatu leading to early menopause, hormonal and metabolic issues such as thyroid, insulin resistance, linked to infertility (Vata-Pitta Imbalance).
